Mool Masala
Visual Identity · Packaging Design
A speculative food brand that reimagines inherited Indian kitchen practices as a contemporary conversation around sustainability.

Have Indian kitchens been practising sustainability long before we gave it a name?
Inspired by my grandmother's kitchen, Mool Masala questions how sustainability is often presented as something new when many of its principles have long existed within Indian homes. Through everyday practices of preservation, reuse and resourcefulness, the project reframes sustainability as inherited cultural knowledge. This is expressed through products like Shalgam Gobhi Gajar Achar, Scrappy Cooking Manuals, and packaging built around reclaimed glass jars.

This project reminded me that sometimes innovation isn't about inventing something new, it's about recognising the value of what already exists.
