I’m Urja. I’m a visual communication designer who likes to make the world a little more colourful and capture it in stories. I work across visual storytelling, illustration and mixed media, with a particular interest in projects where the narrative is as important as the final image. I like building worlds, developing characters, playing with visual language and finding the right form for an idea. I’ve also developed a growing interest in children’s books and working with children.

I recently graduated from Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology with a degree in Visual Communication and Strategic Branding. One semester of my degree was spent in Linnaeus University, Sweden, where I studied Visual Communication and Change, exploring design through a lens of sustainability.

At the centre of my practice is the idea of capturing through words, visuals, a lens, or a combination of all of them. My process tends to move between research, writing, imagery, and observation and playful experimentation.
